Hacienda Noelia is an agroforestry development project tucked in the northwestern corner of Dominican Republic near the border of Haiti.
Far from the traditional cacao production region of San Francisco, this former cattle farm land was abandoned for many years. In the early 2000s the De la Rosa family noticed an opportunity to develop it for cacao production. The project has been a major success for both quality cacao production and the creation of employment opportunities for local residents.
Today the Hacienda produces Hispaniola cacao beans, practicing purely organic growing methods (although they are yet to obtain an official organic certification). The land in Dajabón, near the Haitian border, has since seen a resurgence from this development project. The De la Rosa family is excited about the further development of previously neglected land in the region and employment opportunities it represents for local Dominicans and Haitians.

d’Ébène Chocolat is made in studio from single-origin, individually-sourced, fair trade cacao beans. Whether you eat d’Ébène Chocolat plain or use it in your favorite cookie, brownie, cupcake or other confections, candies, each one of our chocolates is an exciting adventure–a distinctive and unique culinary experience.
We import cacao beans from Peru, Ecuador, the Dominican Republic, Venezuela and other exotic countries. We process these beans in studio for up to 96 hours; using a conching process, which refines the chocolate and makes it smooth and creamy. The result of this dedication is a tantalizing harmony of flavors and textures, unique among the chocolates and pastries of the world.
